This year we are trying to integrate Maths and Science with children’s life skills.

So, in the month of February, we decided to integrate science with life skills.

Two of our groups- M1 and M2 were going for watch the planets and stars in night on a hill in February. It was preplanned, so we discussed among ourselves and chose the subject ‘Solar system and space’ for middle and high school groups. Tais conducted sessions on the subjects according to the text books. Children were very curious to know about the stars, comets, galaxies and the universe. Then while discussing these subjects with children an idea about making the models of solar system, rockets, satellite, galaxies etc. clicked to us. Children were enthusiastic to make them and readily agreed to it. Making models from trash gives good space to children’s imagination and creativity as it involves the 3 H i.e. Head, Heart and Hands.

Tais also encouraged and helped them. All of them searched on net and found suitable models and made them from trash. Our discussion was going on about the preparation which shaped the idea of exhibition of these models. On 7th March we planned the exhibition. Children were eager to talk about what they have done and how they did it. Parents and our volunteers visited it. Parents were very happy to see their children talking with confidence with all people. All enjoyed it a lot. It was a great experience for all of us.
