On 8 March, a visit-cum-picnic to Zapurza was organized for members of the Khelghar Mitra Gat. Coincidentally, the day was also International Women’s Day, which added to the enthusiasm and celebration. A total of 19 participants joined the trip, including 13 parents, 5 staff members (Tayas), and 1 volunteer. A few parents could not attend due to personal reasons.

The group started the journey at 10:00 a.m. Some parents were dropped off by their daughters, who encouraged them to enjoy the outing without worrying about household responsibilities. During the journey, parents sang songs and danced, creating a cheerful and lively atmosphere.

At Zapurza, the group visited various galleries showcasing Paithani sarees, traditional jewellery, brass utensils, the history of lamps, film posters, and exhibits related to sheep and wool traditions.

Interactive experiences such as listening to village sounds at different times of the day and viewing nature scenes through a virtual reality device were especially enjoyed by the participants.

After exploring the galleries, the group had lunch, which had been thoughtfully arranged in advance by the staff. Later, they watched a dance performance and then gathered for a discussion. Participants shared their reflections on the visit, with many parents describing it as a new and enriching experience. Some also suggested organizing a similar visit for children in the future.

The group also discussed future plans, including spreading awareness about Khelghar in the community, involving fathers in meetings, and organizing an Open Library activity in April.

On the way back, the group briefly stopped near Khadakwasla Dam to enjoy the sunset before returning home. The trip helped strengthen bonds between parents and the Taya staff. New parents also interacted comfortably with others, and the volunteer’s presence helped guide meaningful discussions.

Overall, the visit was a joyful and memorable experience that brought the group closer together.
